FAQs
  • What are UTM parameters?

UTM parameters (Urchin Tracking Module) are tags added to a URL to track the source of traffic in Google Analytics or other analytics tools. They let you know exactly where each visit comes from: whether it is from an email, a social network, an ad, etc.

    • utm_source: identifies the traffic source (newsletter, facebook, google...)
    • utm_medium: the channel type (email, social, cpc, banner...)
    • utm_campaign: the specific campaign name
    • utm_term: the keywords (used in paid campaigns)
    • utm_content: differentiates variants of the same link (A/B test, button position...)
  • Add UTM parameters to all links in your newsletters and email campaigns. Use source=newsletter (or the name of your list), medium=email, and campaign with the campaign name. This way you can see in Google Analytics exactly which email campaigns generate the most traffic and conversions.

  • Not directly. Google ignores UTM parameters when indexing pages. However, it is good practice not to use UTMs on internal links on your website to avoid polluting your Analytics metrics.

  • Presets automatically fill in the source and medium fields with standard values for each platform. This ensures you always use the same naming convention and your Analytics data will be consistent.

  • No. It is completely free and does not require registration.
