FAQs
  • How many characters should an email subject line have?

The ideal is to keep the email subject line between 40 and 60 characters. Beyond 60, many email clients cut it off, especially on mobile. Shorter subject lines tend to have better open rates.

  • The preheader is the preview text that appears next to the subject line in the inbox. The recommended length is between 40 and 100 characters. It is an extra opportunity to convince users to open your email.

  • Google shows around 160 characters of the meta description in search results. If your description is longer, it will be cut off with an ellipsis. A well-optimised meta description improves CTR in the SERPs.

  • Green means your text is within the recommended limit. Yellow indicates you are approaching the limit (over 80%). Red means you have exceeded the character limit for that platform.
